We could’ve have been any happier with the news! And we are happy that Michael Musto will join us again for some Disco fun! The last show we did in February sold out within days of advertisement. The buzz was on and it was amazing!
We hope it will be again! This time around, the weather is nicer and not like it was with the sub zero temp, It’s a Saturday night at Studio 54! How much cooler than that!!

The big news is that we are sharing the stage and joined by the incredible Sarah Dash herself. Mrs, Dash is known from the group Labelle and for her Disco hit Sinner Man. She will be performing Lady Marmalade with the incredible voice of Orfeh! and also performing her hit Song Sinner man live with the band. We are giddy with excitement! As Mentioned Orfeh will return as well as Tish and Snooky. They blew the roof off the last show so if you missed that, you’ll get your chance to see them in action again! Last but not least joining us is the most awesome Joey Arias ( with a twist)! Mrs. Arias have been playing plenty of shows in and around NYC for quite a while doing everything from Cabaret to performance art and Dance shows! Joey was known for his appearance with David Bowie and Klaus Nomi. If some of you grew up watching SNL , you probably seen that live performance in ’79.

We can’t wait for this show! And hope to see many of you dancing on the dance floor. Word of advice, get your tickets soon. 54 below holds 180 people tops we think? It is a intimate room and they do remove the tables and chairs for dancefloor. But judging from last show, tickets went fast!
We don’t want anyone to miss out! Keep Disco Alive!! we know it’s everyone’s guilty pleasure!

We overheard from management inside 54 below that there are some cancellations , so they will try to get as many people tonight as possible. The advance is sold out, but there some left they say. First night of rehearsal we had Orfeh come in. Although she came in for a quick hit, She left us in awe at her thunderous voice! Her fans and our crowd will definitely have a special treat that night! You will melt!

Second rehearsal was with the Original Cowboy Randy Jones of the Village People. He is so much fun! He came in with such exuberance and his energy in the room is infectious! Such a great personality and fun guy to hang with! We ran through his version of YMCA and it was fantastic! Everyone’s going to love it. We wonder if some people will come dressed as one of the Village people? We hope so!

We just have one more to go with the Manic Panic Sisters Snooky and Tish to complete the round up. We can’t wait to meet them and jam. They are going to be so much fun!

Last but not least, Michael Musto. You are in for treat of his rendition of I will Survive! There’s a few press recently about this show with interviews with Michael Musto on Wall Street Journal, WWD online and recently was in Theatre talk on TV on PBS . I caught a little bit of it and was like wow when they showed our flyer on TV! It was great seeing our group pic on the large screen!

For more information on tickets for this show you can go to the website www.54below . We hope to see you on Sunday Feb 17! Oh and by the way, It’s Presidents day weekend! We know people are off on Monday! so no excuses!! Don’t miss out on this! He was New York in every way and in his personality. He represents everything about this city and even through the tough times , he was tough as nails. Definitely a character! The man was bigger than NYC itself, R.I.P. Mr Ed Koch. A light turned out in New York. How you doing? You did great Mr Mayor! ..you did great!

If you’ve ever been around the music scene back in the late 70′s & 80′s NYC Clubs, then you would’ve heard about Mr. Musto. Michael is a journalist/writer from the famed Village Voice section called The Daily Musto (which he still writes for today). Check out his latest blog about our show here – http://blogs.villagevoice.com/dailymusto/2013/01/im_singing_disc.php

He used to frequent the NYC night life when times were much more fun! I mean, REALLY FUN! And he was also a frequent fixture in the famed NYC hotspot Studio 54.

We’re excited to announce that we will share the stage with Michael at 54 Below (Studio 54 Cellar) where you know the real party was at! Who knows what was going on down there back in the days! Wouldn’t you like to know? Well Michael does!

He’ll perform a few Disco hits with us that you will not want to miss! And as a bonus treat, he’ll be joined by NYC resident punk gals, Tish and Snooky. Tish and Snooky are well known for their downtown store called Manic Panic. We know anyone that ever frequents downtown NY remembers that store for the crazy hair colors they display! The two sisters were also backup singers for Debbie Harry (Blondie) and they also also have their own acts they perform. You can learn more about them at their webpage here – http://www.manicpanic.com

They will also perform a few Disco hits with us as well! Guess the tunes?

And to top it all, the biggest surprise for us is the chance to grace the stage with the fabulous Orfeh!

She is a Tony nominated actress/singer and was recently in the Broadway show, Legally Blonde! Her voice is something to behold! Just wow! She will join the band in one tune that will simply melt your heart! It should be a highlight of the night for sure!

We just can’t wait for this show! It’s going to be so much fun! I would say multiply the fun by 10!

We hope you all will join us! It’s Studio 54!!! What is a more better gig for Disco band than that??

Elektrik Companytag:elektrikcompany.com,2005:Post/2669282012-12-15T08:06:00-05:002017-01-14T10:13:16-05:00Bon Voyage Peter!
We would like to wish our resident sax man Peter Creekmore a bon voyage to his new venture on the seas! Peter just landed a gig on a cruise ship and will be out at sea for months. We like to take the time and wish him the greatest of luck and hope he doesn’t get sea sick! Peter had been in the band since the inception and we will miss him! We are sure he’ll still play the classic 70′s tunes on the cruise! So at least he had a jump start!

Well not exactly inside studio 54 club itself but the basement that is currently now converted to a cabaret nightclub called 54 below. The decor is classic mood of Gothic and very classy styled interior that makes it feel very nostalgic once you walked in. We just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take shots before we went on stage.

The party was fun with dancers in disco outfits , stilt dancers, and shirtless waiters! Yes , if ever an event like this takes place on a regular, we know the ladies will be out in drones! hmmm…. hold that thought!

We hit him with our usual hard hitting set of classics and the dancing never stopped from there. What was great that people came in the outfits and did the moves you will see back in the heyday! Total fun!

We hope to come back to this place in the future for shows! 54 below seems like a perfect little spot for some good events. They normally have cabaret, jazz and the settings is very intimate for the broadway crowd. But tweaking it a bit for Disco show is definitely doable! Thanks to our Secret Agents working for us, we think something may happen! The boogie is happening! Bringing back Disco to Studio 54? can it happen? Oh YES we hope so!

It was a crazy storm as we all know by now and what better way to help by banding all the decades of tribute bands together one night at the Canal Room. We are honored to be a part of this and to help and to rock along with our friends in the other bands. The night started with 70′s with us and in order of decades 80′s with Jessie’s Girl, 90′s with Bayside Tigers, 2k today with Party Rock! All the bands Rocked hard that night and it was so much fun! We even took part in a sing along to Journey’s don’t stop believin! ala we are the world style where every band members take part! We had hoped for a larger turn out but it was a wednesday night and school nights are hard , but the handful that were there saw something special! How hard we come together to Rock and help. No disaster can put us down!

It’s been a hot minute since we did write anything on this blog. You could call it neglect or laziness.. None of the above. It’s the everyday life of finding time. We try to get as much info in on every blog we do here. But we’ll try hard to bring everything here for you in news and what’s going on in our world of this journey in the Disco band land of ours.

The Elektrik Company had a successful year, we had good share of shows and awesome private events that we’ve done! As we come to near the close of 2012 and renew the year I think we had a great successful run! We are hoping for much more exposure in the new year and for more people to discover how much fun this band really is to see live! We hope to try achieve that in 2013 and beyond! But we need your help! help spread the word out and tell your friends and family about this band. Come out and see a show when we play next! The energy of this band is infectious, the only way to experience it is to really see it! Pictures can’t describe it.

There was a many of firsts for us this year. Landed a gig at our first Casino show at the Resorts World was a blast! And the experience of playing a casino was so much fun! Hope we get to play there again soon and often. Huge screens filled the backdrop and playing on top of a bar! that was the most unique setup I’ve seen for any gig ever played. It works well as we played and music filled the open air drowning out the ring rings of the slots. And slew of people walking by checking us and having a drink or two. The strange thing is you don’t know if they are watching the Big screen or us or both. One funny thing of note, as usual Jerome the entertainer that he is, always loves jumping on bars and he did so again , against my objections to it. I think he may be the first to ever tried that on that casino bar.. I just hope the management was okay or else that will be the last time we play there! Anyhow, the casino experience is definitely a fit for this band! Casino’s out there, give us a call!

Few private shows were played this year , and landed few gigs at Drom in the east village. We love love DRom, very classy and nice spot, but we hope we can pull in banging turnout for that place. We have to say, we sounded the best sound wise in that club. But hoping we can push something big in there! it’s a work in progress, but I think we can do it! Drafting up a plan!

Now that December is upon us and looks like we capped it off to nice ending of shows. We just recently played a quick appearance at the Canal room NYC with our family of tribute bands of from Fun Music Artists for the Hurricane Sandy Relief benefit. A night of different decades from 70′s to today representing. What a great night for all the bands to come together! Even for a Wednesday the energy was there with the sparse crowd. Yes it is hard to go out on a school night, but for this type of show was so worth it and a great help for the victims of Hurricane Sandy storm. Hope we can do something like this again in some other sort of capacity or another.

Will blog on the happenings if anything crazy might go on from this event.

What? E Company not ringing in the New Year? Well not yet at least, but I think when we do it’ll be huge! We hope to get one in the future to ring in the New Years! Hopefully someone out there that is reading this can prep and hire us for their next New Years Party?? wink wink!

Boogie on people! Hope your year was great and here’s to a prosperous and healthy 2013! And of course Happy Holidays to all!

September 27, 2012 – this date now marks an evening performance that the Elektrik Company will always remember fondly.

There was a lot of anticipation going into this show. Things were going to be a tad bit different from the past venues that everyone’s favorite disco troupe did their previous gigs in. This time, the Elektrik Company was hired to take the stage in a more fitting location: Resorts World Casino in Jamaica, NY. There was going to be plenty of distractions lined up around the Bar 360 stage – a ginormous TV screen (that just happened to be playing that night’s NFL game), a whole slew of slot machines in the resounding area, and all types of bar action that the patrons would certainly engage in.

But the Elektrik Company’s funk and bravado were not to be ignored. Once the band was all tuned and ready to play, disco fever transformed the casino into a modern day Studio 54.

Jerome made sure to liven up the joint once he took the mic. Lisa and Afua held their own as they hit a few high notes alongside the rambunctiousness displayed by Sir ‘Rome. “Disco Inferno” and “You Should Be Dancing” were the perfect intro songs to hit the crowd with.

Of course, this wouldn’t be a live Elektrik Company show without Jerome and his awesome crowd interaction. The bar table played the part of Jerome’s private stage as the night wore on.

Bar 360's bright lights added to the spectacle on stage as familiar tunes like "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" and "Car Wash" created a funky ambiance. Everyone within earshot of the band made sure to put a halt to their late night gambling and instead dance to some memorable tunes.

Once Michael Jackson's (RIP) "Rock With You" started up, it was clear that a sweet spot was finally hit. Folks were dancing, laughter was heard, and plenty of other people stopped in their tracks and sung along to the music. It was an especially wonderful sight to see when an older couple got up to dance once "I Will Survive" came on. Another standout moment occurred when a man (who looked like he was having the time of his life!) stepped on stage. His added dance number and joyful attitude made "I Want Your Love" look and sound even better.

Jeff got his expected tribute when "Kung Fu Fighting" started up. A whole bunch of "HOO's!" and "HAH's!" were heard all over the bar area. A group of ladies looked to be enjoying this little number the most, as they jumped up every time a karate chop and kick was required. All that karate funk got the people movin'!

By the end of the show, Lisa and Afua hit all the right notes for their solo numbers. Not even a hotly contested NFL game could keep most of the people's eyes from staring in awe at these disco queens. Jerome, Frank, Ramsey, Jeff, Isamu, the aforementioned ladies, and the two saxophone funkateers played their asses off. Anyone with a pulse and appreciation for classic disco/funk could be seen applauding the Elektrik Company's stage efforts.

All in all, the Resorts World Casino got the best of the best that night. NYC's most revered and beloved disco tribute band showed up, showed out, and got everybody to boogie.

Let's all hope an encore performance is in the works for the Elektrik Company…

No relation to you-know-who (“Benny and the Jets” is one of my jams, BTW). From a young age, I’ve been the unofficial roadie for the bands some of the Elektrik Company members have been a part of.

Frank, Jeff, Jerome and Ramsey (my Pops) are musical stalwarts and a group of dynamic disco dudes. They’ve watched me grow and I’ve watched their fanbase grow as well. It’s been a treat watching these guys rock hard under their Funkface moniker (shoutout to Luqman), then switch musical genres for their other projects.

This whole disco tribute band thing is something I thought I’d never see from these guys. Once I came along for the ride and sat down (then stood up) for their BB King’s performance, I believed the hype. This group of guys and gals present the best of disco music to any crowd who’s willing to boogie.

I tend to play the part of the interested onlooker at some of their shows, just so I can get a glimpse of the crowd and their reactions to the party taking place on stage.

Here’s what I’ve seen thus far:

1. No one expects Jerome to surf a table and continue to play his guitar while maintaining a ridiculous balancing act. It definitely woke up a group of old fogies who sat on their hands for the beginning of the band’s BB King’s gig. Let this be a lesson to you boring chair occupiers: get up & dance or prepare to get Jerome’d.

2. The clothing these disco dudes and dudettes sport on stage while they perform define the word “authentic.” Wild Afro wigs, leather chaps, turquoise ensembles and red cheetah print dresses make the whole experience worthwhile.

3. “Kung Fu Fighting” gives the band’s Caucasian onlookers a sudden dose of rhythm for some reason…

4. “That’s The Way I like It” is a crowd favorite and one of the most recognizable disco tunes today. The frenzy it causes must be seen to be believed. KC & The Sunshine Band covers always have to come correct whenever they’re played. The Elektrik Company are professionals when it comes to performing KC classics.

5. Donna Summers R.I.P. While radio stations played her songs for one whole day, the Elektrik Company honored her the right way: they made sure to do their finest renditions of “Bad Girls” and “Hot Stuff.” These tribute songs shall continue…

6. I overheard a few people in the crowd one night talking about the lack of another disco classic: “More, More, More” by Andrea True. Maybe one night we’ll get to hear this song get turned out by the Elektrik Company. I’m in that group of fans who’d like to see it be done.

7. The lady singers who belt out their hearts and souls on stage? They’re hot. That observation was pretty much expected , I’m sure.

8. The youngest of the young and the oldest of the old come together as one once the band gets warmed up. It’s always a wondrous sight when I catch some 20-something year old dude learning some disco moves from a group of older women. I figure I should learn a thing or two from these ladies, too (if ya catch my perverted drift).

Yeah so this is what my young eyes have witnessed since my introduction to the Elektrik Company. If you happen to spot a super lanky, tall brotha with a set of glasses on, chances are you’ve just laid eyes on this guest blogger.

You may refer to me as…”The Eyes of the Elektrik Company.” I got more blogs planned so stay tuned…

The first time around, he and his wife welcomed their first child into the world on the day of our last show at Dominion! Talk about timing! So we never got to play with Matt. But all is well with his newborn baby girl! Congrats Matt!!! ..and everything worked out for us thanks to Dave Barry our other Keyboardist who came to the rescue like the superhero he is and played the show, unrehearsed. So hopefully this time around all systems a go! The stars will be aligned for some Boogie and funkiness! Second time around is the best time around! It’s gonna be great!

We know Matt is going to bring some awesome sounds to our set, we can’t wait to bring you all the great stuff! We added a few more Donna Summer tunes celebrating her music and honoring her that night as well as Robin who passed recently.
It’ll be a special night and we hope you all will join us for some fun and lots and lots of Dancing!

Also to mention, more celebrating with our good friends who will be there for their birthdays and for us it will mark the bands 1 Yr Anniversary! Lots of celebration all around!
I think we need to break out some Champagne to get it more bubbly! what you guys think?

We are going to try some songs that we wanted to do and also add a little tribute to the late Donna Summer on our set.
Also since we will be in a Downtown Ave A East village vibe , it seems appropriate to bring some Edgy , sexy dance mixes to our List, Keep it real NYC DISCO! ya know?

We are planning to add some good ones this time around with Disco Nights from GQ , Donna Summer’s Dim all the lights, I feel love. As well as CHIC’s I want your love, which sounded great when we played it at Princeton!

Drom is going to be definitely a FUN show!

What a Blast!
Yesterday we played our first College Gig and we hope to do more, cause that had to be the most fun we had in a while! It was a fun Chaotic experience, Reunion parties everywhere on Campus and Lots of Food, Drinking, Partying and more drinking! Music was blaring from all sides of the campus area. Tents were set up everywhere, that’s where you know the party was at.

You can see all the great Colors of their Alumni and outfits they have on parading throughout the campus! Kegs of Beers, and Partying College Kids! This place really makes you want to go back to College! And It was a beautiful college! If you never visited Princeton, you’ll see how cool the little town is.

Back to our show, Man oh man what a great time we all had! it started slow since their was a fireworks going on , so we decided to stall a bit to give them time to come back from the fireworks show. When we hit the stage there were just a few on the dancefloor. Mostly the people with their little ones dancing on the floor. Which was the cutest thing you’ll see! Kids were like 5 to 10 yr old dancing to Disco! We never thought we would see that!
As the set continued on slowly people headed back and gradually the dancefloor building up. Started to get going when we hit the Donna Summer songs. We could see people moving to the dance floor, some even running to the dance floor!

Once we hit the party anthem YMCA , we think that started the Party for sure! And you know , the usual hand signs of YMCA people always do! That’s when it kicked it up a notch when we did Born to be alive and our favorite… You make me feel Mighty real by Sylvester. The Dancing was non stop and the DISCO was Pumping!
As usual, Jerome putting the crowd into a frenzy and with his wardrobe malfunctioning and all he did an awesome job getting them all involved and even sharing the mic to the crowd!

Later on our set, the Floor was full and the dancing was at a frenzy! Jamming to all our hits from KC to Gloria Gaynor the Crowd didn’t stop! We even had to do an Encore! with the Ain’t no stopping us now. Princeton, Thank You! You made our night! What an incredibly fun show!

We recently got booked for this newly renovated spot in the East Village, downtown manhattan called DROM. This spot used to be called Opalines, and Beowulf ...and if some of you who frequents downtown avenue A area you will know that club very well. Opalines was once owned by former NY Mets ballplayer Mo Vaughn. Betcha didn't know that one! Some of us in the band had frequent this place in the past going to awesome parties thrown by Michael T and his crew! Dubbed the Mother#$$% party! It was crazy!

Adam (MCA) Yauch of the beastie boys It is always a sad day when hearing news of artists or celebrity's that passes away, especially due to cancer! People taken from loved ones too young! Makes you think of your mortality. I had the privilege to have met MCA at a function once and he was a very cool and smart guy and very down to earth! He was the favorite of the 3 for me, because of his raspy tone in his voice. It's unmistakeable.
Beastie boys was one of my favorites and a staple to NYC music scene. Rest in peace Adam!
